Allotment plot number from old broken garden fork

I found this old broken fork on my allotment when I was clearing it and it was just put aside to maybe use later, I was going to put a new handle on but when the price of a good handle is the price of a new fork, a d I already have a few good ones it seemed a waste.. The I needed a plot number for my allotment and I am just getting into welding my plan was to bend and weld my number (19) out of steel rods and make it look a bit like a fork. Then I remembered I had this old fork laying around and decided to use that. I started by heating and bending the tines to get a 9 I managed to bend the top and then decided it's best to add so. E steel on so i got a little 6 inch scrap of mild steel rod, heated and shaped to finish the 9. The base was the hardest to bend and I ended up cutting 3/4 of the way through the bottom and bending that. I then got out the welder and cleaned up all the areas to weld with a wire brush Took my best guess at the welder settings and started sticking bits of metal together. I know the welds aren't the best but they are strong and with a grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't. This is the first thing I have welded ever apart from a few practice lines on a bit of scrap sheet steel when I first got the welder.. I then decided that the top of the 1 should be bant down and then wanted the outer tines to not take away from the number so I bent these into swirls (with a lot of heat and a 14inch pipe wrench. Then I ground down all the welds with a flap disc and went over the whole thing with a wire brush to get the worst of the rust off. The a coat of direct to rust primer, and 2 thin coats of stone guard black paint. I think this will go very nicely on the front fence of my allotment plot. 👍😁
