Classic bicycle rebuild
1998 Mike burrows designed bike ( he designed the boardamn time trial bike ) that came with campagnolo shifters, wheels and a quill stem that are not compatible with shimano / modern parts. The quill stem was updated with an adaptor to allow the use of modern stem/ bar combination to allow easy adjustability .The shifters were replaced with more modern shimano 105 shifters for better performance and replacement parts . Wheels upgraded to new lighter faster rolling superstar components wheels with a shimano compatible hub. Chainset updated from a triple to a 10 speed double sqaure taper set to update the set whilst keeping the retro look , this was the only time i needed to take it to a bike shop as the old campagnolo bottom bracket was not a tool i had and i wasnt going to buy one as it was liable to be expensive to buy and source for a once only job. seatpost upgraded to a micro adjust design as the single bolt original is a design you cannot get spot on perfect, i also discovered the seatpost clamp bolt was sheared so i had to replace the clamp as the saddle was slipping. New cables added throughout and the bike test ridden over 60 miles. Not as fast as a super carbon bike ? maybe not but its fun to ride and certainly has more character than the million black same looking bikes you see .
