Damaged old cupboard to washstand project
We were creating and under-stairs loo and wanted something interesting and different for our washbasin, something that looked older and in keeping with our 1980's house. We found a battered and water-damaged old cupboard for sale and picked it up, it was an ideal fir for the narrow space we had available. We cut back the depth and strengthened it; dilled holes to fit the plumbing, yacht varnished it, and fitted a counter top basin and tap. It looks lovely now!
Step 1
This is the online listing picture of the cupboard we started with.
Step 2
You can see the water damage top right, the portion we haven't sanded was getting chopped off!
Step 3
We cut the back off to trim down the depth and rebuilt the frame to hold it all together again.
Step 4
We ran all the plumbing to service the basin.
Step 5
We cut holes in the newly varnish top to service the tap and waste.
Step 6
And here's how it looks now, with basin and tap all plumbed in, and ideal little washstand :-)
