Ford pop 100e (Elsie )
Rebuild of 1960 ford pop on my driveway by me and my son Sam , over a two year period . Bought as a half finished project it sports an escort engine suspension and rear axle , disc brakes . All rewired new interior mx5 seats all seals and windscreen rubbers replaced . Lotus cortina steel wheels and sport tyres fitted . Porsche olive green respray with metalflake and lacquer in a tiny homemade shed , re sprayed twice due to fault with paint ! The car is now fully running with twice the power of the original sidevale engine and keeps up with motorway traffic easily and handles like a 1980s escort . I think we achieved the look we wanted with the car , it looks like a typical old car until it passes you in the fast lane of the motorway! The car was built on a budget to used as an everyday car not a once a month car show car and will remain outside in all weathers . It is registered as an historic vehicle tax and m o t exempt . It has thrown up a lot of challenges especially with the paint and bodywork ! But the car seems to bring a lot of memories to my neighbours and friends who all seemed to learn to drive in these cars .
