Project Denstone
My 1930’s house had been empty for 10 years before I purchased it. I have completed the work myself as a labour of love with my ‘have a go attitude’. From coving, to cutting and fitting 7inch skirting board with my mitre saw. To ripping out the old fireplace and replacing with a Carron Morris ‘valentine’ cast iron surround. The shutters were from marketplace and I’ve cut them down to fit. The TV unit was £20 from marketplace also and has had a recycled new lease of life. I can’t take credit for hanging the doors and carpet fitting but I hold my hands up for the panelling on the back wall. I made a frame for the ceiling and wallpapered with a John Lewis vintage paper to compliment the rich colour used on the ceiling down to the picture rail. I’ve used egyptian cotton on the walls, a Matt finish to the panelling to create a soft back drop from the lamp. I’ve used silk on the rest to gently bounce light back around the room to create a light but cosy airey room.
