For as long as I can remember I’ve used WD40 to clean off residue from sticky labels. In the past I’ve done bottles, this time a handy tin! Remove as much label as possible the rub a little WD40 into the residue until it comes clean. Intermittently washing with washing up liquid. Good as new!
